DescriptionGreat character, killer cover! Strange Tales #170 marked the second appearance of Brother Voodoo in the story "Baptism of Fire," written by Len Wein and published by Marvel in 1973.The inker of this cover remains a mystery. Grand Comic Book Database credits Dick Giordano, which is incorrect, and Steve Mitchell, which is possible. There is a small "M" drawn under Brother Voodoo's foot. That might mean Steve Mitchell or someone else? A friend spoke to the writer of the issue, Len Wein, who is pretty sure it was neither of them. Others on CAF have speculated Murphy Anderson, Bill Everett and Ralph Reese. Like I said, it's a real mystery. Any thoughts? Social/Sharing |

Murphy Anderson perhaps? He's known to cleverly sneak his initials on works that he inked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy_Anderson

AMAZING cover! But I know for a fact it's not inked by Mitchell or Giordano -- I'm guessing either Bill Everett (or inked a handful of classic Kane covers during this period, including SUB-MARINER 48 & AVENGERS 97) OR Ralph Reese, who inked even FEWER Kane jobs! Either way it ROCKS!

I hope this helps, Here is the link http://www.comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=16761

Everett had a particular way he'd combine his and GK's initials, and the "M" is not it.
