The moment I heard that Tom Grummett was doing commissions I had to jump in and get something. He's really turning out some great, great work on these things. My first go, the Soviet Super Soldiers vs. Fin Fang Foom, turned out so well that when Tom started anther round I was, like, credit limited be damned! I want another one :) I've been enjoying my late Bronze age Avengers of late and decided to just go with a straight ahead Avengers fight. Once I had that Ultron came easily. So, here you have the Avengers (Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye and Wonder Man) duking it out with Ultron himself!

I really dig Cap's pose. The idea that even though he's facing Ultron he's got his arms open in a defiant gesture. Classic pose for Hawkeye and it's almost like you can actually here Ms. Marvel giving the Avengers call. And while I know it's not his classic or best loved costume this was the first costume I saw for Wonder Man so that was a given. Ultron, of course, is total badass. I mean, even the Kirby dots are great.

Recently, having seen the great work of Alex Garcia I asked him if he would be willing to give inking this one a shot. One hi-res scan later he was off an running. Really pleased with how this one turned out. And props to Alex for adding Hawkeye's bow, which Tom had forgotten :)

Kudos to Tom for another outstanding commission, I have yet to see a bad one. I love the fact that he used the second Don Heck version of Hawkeye's uniform. I miss the classic Marvel Avengers so commissions like this keep them alive.
