Moose Mason (Archie Comics) Apology sketch by Rex W. Lindsey

So, almost a month ago, Archie Comics artist Rex W. Lindsey put up on ebay the art for an entire comic book: the cover and all 23 interior pages from "Archie & Friends" No. 90. He had a starting bid of $129.99 and a "Buy It Now" of $169.99.

Gambling I could save a few dollars, I bid, intending to snipe at the last moment, provided I could get it for less than the "Buy It Now" price. But I lost out and it went for over $180 in the end. I thought to myself what I often do at those moments: "Maybe I'll get a Second Chance offer," knowing full well that I wouldn't.

But I did! Shock! Amazement! $142.64 + shipping sent off the next day!

And so I waited for the art to arrive, dutifully watching the tracking number every day:

And it eventually went back to Colorado Springs. Turned out Lindsey had mis-written my address and he apologized and resent the art.

This piece, an original drawing of dim-witted Moose, was his apologetic "extra" for all the trouble.
