It was the early 1990s. 2000ad and I weren’t getting along as well as we used to. Our relationship was going through a rocky patch. Other comics started to catch my eye. I started to think about finding other weekly uses for 60p. Looking back, nobody was to blame – we’d just grown apart, was all. But 2000ad didn’t want us to drift apart without making an effort and would rage, rage against the dying of the light by serving up Bradley every know and then, which combined Alan MacKenzie’s whimsical/OTT scripts with Simon Harrison’s whimsical/macabre art.
