Description

Here's another page from Marvel Preview #21 from the spring of 1980, before Moon Knight got his own title. I liked the character ever since he first appeared in Werewolf By Night, and then followed him in the Sienkiewicz-drawn "Rampaging Hulk" back-up stories. Although it's from the same book as the Palmer inked page 16, this page is inked by Sienkiewicz himself. Tom Palmer's line is more lush and elegant, but Bill's brushwork is confident, quirky and expressive, even at this fairly early stage of his career.

Just SUPERB! I have page 37 from this issue. It blew me away as a kid and still does today. Nobody inks like Sienkiewicz ; ) Congrats!

Wow! Very early panel page featuring Moon Knight by Bill Sienkiewicz. Interesting how different this early page is from Bill's later Moon Knight stuff. Where his later work is more stylized, this is very much in a standard comic book style. Still, it's not bad work, it certainly conveys the story cleanly and clearly. It looks like Bill did his own inks on this page and they're very competent. He uses strong blacks and his line is sharp and clean. But it's so different from the Moon Knight pages I'm used to seeing after Bill began to experiment with different sylistic choices. I find myself wondering how he would have changed this page if he'd done it later on, what sylistic changes would we see? Fantastic pick-up, thanks for sharing!
