Description

Objectively, the romance between Kitty Pryde and Peter Rasputin is probably second in importance and significance to that of Jean Grey and Scott Summers in the history of the X-Men. But, since I started reading the X-Men at the age of 12 in 1983 with issue #167 and fell immediately in love with Kitty Pryde, the affairs of her heart have always been much more interesting to me. Kitty's longstanding crush on Peter finally came to a head in Uncanny X-Men #174 (October 1983) in a well-written and beautifully drawn series of pages by Chris Claremont and Paul Smith. Many thanks to Gary Land for being willing to part with these pages!

Excellent page, Paul Smith's Uncanny was the perfect example of comic storitellying. Great example!

This was a terrific sequence. It's great to see the characters in their civvies when the artist takes the time to give us details. Peter's Adidas sneakers; Kitty's socked feet and cuffed jeans. The vast difference in their heights.
