Description

."Crisis on Earth-Prime" Book One of Five. Major cross-over event with Justice League of America (Earth-1), Justice Society (Earth-2), All-Star Sqadron (Earth-2), and Crime Syndicate (Evil doppelgangers from Earth-3)

The Justice League of America prepare to welcome the Justice Society of America to Earth-1. Astonishingly, it is the Crime Syndicate of America that emerges from the transmatter machine. The Owl Man immediately subdues the Hawkman. Superwoman punches Superman through the satellite hull, into space. Power Ring crushes Firestorm, the Nuclear Man, beneath an energy-constructed hammer. Ultraman binds Zatanna, then hurls her into space. Johnny Quick fells Aquaman. Johnny Quick, Superwoman, and Ultraman repair the breach in the hull. The Crime Syndicate of America steal a shuttle craft to journey to Earth-1. The Justice Society of America find themselves transported to limbo, trapped within a sphere intended to imprison the Crime Syndicate of America.

Doctor Fate reveals, to Power Girl, the history of the Crime Syndicate of America. Doctor Fate, and Starman, unite their powers to destroy the prison sphere. The Golden Age Green Lantern uses his power ring to find a fracture in the space/time continuum. The Justice Society of America travel through the fracture to Earth-Prime. To their horror, Earth-Prime has been destroyed, in a nuclear holocaust. After dealing with horrifically mutated flora, the Golden Age Green Lantern determines that Per Degaton is their foe. Upon awakening, Superman rescues Zatanna, from burning up on re-entry into Earth-1's atmosphere. The Justice League of America re-assemble aboard their satellite headquarters.

The Justice League of America travel to Earth-2, through the transmatter machine. The Justice League of America discover the Justice Society of America's headquarters in ruins. Outside, statues of Per Degaton line the street. The Justice League of America find the civilians terrified. The Justice League of America are attacked by Per Degaton's shock troops. After dealing with the shock troops, the Justice League of America return to the Justice Society of America's headquarters. A calendar date prompts the Justice League of America to journey back in time, to the year 1942. There, they find the Justice Society of America's headquarters restored, but empty. Before the Justice League of America can begin their investigation, the All-Star Squadron walks in on them.

Notes:20th
•19th Annual Justice League of America and Justice Society of America team up.
•Earth-Prime appears.
•Story continues in All-Star Squadron #14.

A Great one! Not to mention from a favorite issue of mine.

Looking at splashes like this one it's difficult for me to understand why Don Heck is not more highly regarded by the Comic Art community.

John Romita did an interview where he said that in the '60's, Don Heck was the best artist drawing women.  High praise, and I agree, but let's give John credit for that as well.
