Description

There developed especially out of Europe a sub-genre of mystery/detective/suspense stories focusing on the exploits of super-criminals. Sax Rohmer was a major writer in that genre playing on Yellow Peril fears with his series about Fu Manchu. This is the rare novel of his in which the super-criminal is not Asian but American.

Actually this is not a pulp piece- most of Rohmer's stories (that later were combined into novels) appeared in places like Collier's magazine - a major "slick" mainstream magazine at the time a competitotr to the Saturday Evening Post. Lambdin was third fine line illustrator to work on Rohmer's tales following Flanagan and JC Coll. Lambdin msotly worked for slick mainstream magazines and harcover books.
