DescriptionA grail from childhood and a cover that parallels the great Transformers movie. Trimpe surely had the touch and power here! Cue Stan Bush. This is the Herb Trimpe cover to Transformers #43 (1988) featuring Rodimus Prime vs. Galvatron. Trimpe, who is best known for his long run on Incredible Hulk in the 1970s, turned strong work here. About the Transformers Marvel licensed the rights to publish a Transformers comic book in the mid-80s and, like some of its other licensed toy comic books, placed it firmly within the Marvel Universe. Transformers were based on a line of Japanese toys and were first distributed in the U.S. by Hasbro in 1984. The quick success of the line encouraged Marvel to publish what turned out to be a long-running comic book series that ran for seven years and 80 issues. About the Artist Herb Trimpe was an underappreciated talent during his career but today has a devoted following for his high quality artwork. Trimpe's best known for his long run on Incredible Hulk issues #106 through #205, with just a few interruptions. His run included the now legendary introduction of Wolverine in issues #180-182. In the 1980s, Trimpe helped launch the popular G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero series, illustrating #1 and several other early issues from the long-running title. Trimpe passed away in 2015 at the age of 75. Social/Sharing |

Thanks! Happy to own one and you've got some great covers too. And you weren't too far off with your bid...though you helped push the final hammer up a couple of hundred dollars. :)

Awesome, and man does it bring back memories of The Movie, which featured these 2 going at it at the end! I didn't collect TF comics as a kid, but I do remember liking and having this one really due to the cover! Congrats!
