DescriptionStory pages 58-63 pay off in this 'money splash'.Here we have Venom +Dylan Brock. Venom now has cool chains on his arms and a white dragon on his chest. ***KIDS LOVE CHAINS*** This is of particular interest because shortly after this issue was published which was the last of the Stegman/Cates Venom run, they announced their independent comic company called 'Kids love chains". Stegman has been very public of his influence from McFarlane and 'Kids love chains' is a call back to this video of Stan Lee/ Rob Liefield and Todd McFarlane-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaJhpqAWjuE around 3:30 - McFarlane suggests they add chains to the drawing. What's an echo of the past to present here. At the time of this video, months later the image guys would leave and start their own company with characters. Spawn of course is well known for his signature chains. Is Todd winking at us here, dropping a little easter egg? Did Stegman/Cates do the same thing here? 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Social/Sharing |

Dylan Venom arrives... with chains! Great face front shot and yup, totally get the "chains" Todd connection :) Big congrats on this as well as the whole batch of pieces you got from milestone issue 200!

You can have the best story or the biggest event, but it is for naught if the art does not live up to the greatness promised. Stegman's art is what people love and enjoy and this overdelivers for all fans.

I have been following Stegman's work since he was on Superior Spider-Man. He leveled up so much when the Venom run started and this is the culmination of the years of one-uping himself. Congrats!

Not only a killer image, but the 1st appearance of Dylan as Venom. Enormous grab getting Venom #200 complete (at least the Stegman pages). Judging by the additional image of the head and chest inks, was this page on 3 boards?

Hey Rob, yes I have three boards, pencils and final inks are obvious, the one where just the head and the ribs are are inked - IDK what thats all about. First guess is so,e cleanup based on feedback? Second guess would be he did the head to make sure stegman liked/agreed, but why do the ribs? Maybe a mystery forever unless we ask one of them. I'll give it a shot...cause I am curious too.

That's fascinating. I love the insight OA provides into the process. Let us know the reason when you find out! Time to go back on Stegman's stream!
