DescriptionCLICK HERE FOR AUCTION LISTING!16.5x20" Superior Illustration Board features 11x14" mixed media original art w/blonde in lace-trimmed black negligee reclining on bed while smoking cigarette. Art is by noted artist/illustrator Robert McGinnis, known for his illustrations of more than 1,200 paperback book covers and over 40 movie posters, including Breakfast At Tiffany's, Barbarella and several James Bond films. Art was painted c. 1964 and was featured as the cover art to two paperbacks, Shayne (1964) by John Burton and The Overnighters (1966) by Brian Black. These titles are noted on back of board. Bottom margin has some scattered editorial/printer notations in pencil as well as aged strip of masking tape at lower right. Top margin has strip of tape staining at right. Art has some scattered faint marks, but would mat and frame for a VF display. Social/Sharing |

Speaking as an expert in the field of vintage paperback artists, including the art of Robert McGinnis, I can assure you that this cover was absolutely NOT illustrated by Robert McGinnis. The actual artist remains unknown.
