While I grew up on his son's art, I have always appreciated what Joe brought to the medium. This is a wonderful example!

This Joe Kubert cover perfectly represents the quality output of DC checkerboard Silver Age war genre. It's got a one on one battle and Sgt. Rock in trouble to hook the audience. Extra points for the black background that makes the figures stand out more.

All Joe Kubert art is something to be treasured, but art from Our Army at War and Sgt. Rock is especially iconic and you've certainly acquired a magnificent example with this piece. Bravo!

Kubert created quite the striking cover here. That checkerboard pops even more with all the black ink he managed to sling on this one. Cheers!
