DescriptionI recently heard Ben's technique described in terms of 'layers and forms' and I must say it helped something click in my mind and really unlocked some amazing depth and imagery in this piece for me, more than already plainly exists. If I magic eye the image, the space rocks almost float around, like good mushrooms make do.Ben is a great guy as well, I've had the opportunity to speak to him at a con and he was most pleasant. While I've labeled it as a commission, it was not a commission for me - I purchased it after the fact, but I believe this was accomplished during a con. Pretty groovy, man! Jason D is to blame for this one. Social/Sharing |

Uh, uh, uh (hey)
I was thinking Surfer (uh), thinking Ben T (hey)
Think Galactus (us), what we gon' see (hey)
Opened my thighs, yeah, this was what he paints for me (hey)
So I travelled back (uh) down that show
Will he come back? (Back) No one knows
I realize, yeah, it was magic mushroom dream

really layered. Love how it looks cut out and that eye really gives it that extra punch. Nice art pick up young man.

It actually looks like a multi-layered carving on a stome wall that has subsequently been painted. Really Fab!

I would have never imagined Ben doing Galactus and Silver Surfer but this came out freaking awesome.

Great pick up! Seems to have been inspired by the Parable Moebius comics. Love it!

There's a real alien feel to this which is to be expected from Monsieur Templesmith. Surfer in particular has some real little-green-men vibes. Wonderfully done by Ben and seconded that he's in that top tier of Australian exports with Hogan, Jackman, Hemsworth and Robbie. His only failing is that he never managed to appear on an episode of Neighbors.

On my piece Ben gave MODOK's legs more layers than most of my old girlfriends.

I always appreciate when the cosmic characters are given an otherworldly feel to them. Ben nails that in this impressive piece.

this is a fantastic rendition. the watercolors give it a hard look in some parts (the surfer) and equally soft parts to other spaces(galactus face)

Them's some good mushrooms! Great color feel to this. SS is descending slightly among elevating rocks and both characters' world-weary faces suggest a long night behind them

I always wondered what a planet core would do after being devoured. Hense insta-pot eye steam vent. It all makes sense now. Cool piece.

Templesmith has such a unique looking style, and I really like it. It doesn't me remind me of any other artists. Have been considering a commission from his website, but haven't done it yet. Good pick up!!

Oh yeah, so uniquely Templesmith. Just love all the different hues of purple...you don't see that a lot. Awesome, man. Congrats!
