Shown here is page 40 of the Mark Schultz book, "Storms at Sea", published by Flesk in 2015.

Mark showed this to me for sale, and after buying a couple of other pieces, I kept returning to it. Storms at Sea was an interesting tale, told as a noir mystery, where fantasy and reality merged. There were lots of images taken from classic science fiction movies... Like King Kong, THEM!, among others. This one, as I am sure everyone can see, features Ann Darrow watching the fateful end of Kong on the Empire State Building... with biplanes disappearing in the distance.

This piece was rendered entirely in pencil and is really a tour de force of shading.

The emotion is strong. The blood even in black and white brings the tragic tale to an even more somber resolution with only the biplanes leaving in the distance having a good day.
