Description

This wonderful artwork is only the third issue that Ed Benes did a cover for, for the Justice League of America comic book series (after issues #1 and #7). On this cover, we have a great match-up between the JLA (Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Black Lightning, Green Lantern and Black Canary) versus the Suicide Squad (The General, Plastique, Bronze Tiger, Count Vertigo, Captain Boomerang and Deadshot). In this issue, we have the second chapter in the "Sanctuary" story-arc.

Note that Deadshot (Black Canary's opponent in this original uncensored artwork) was removed during production for the final cover.

Most of the time, Benes is just a flat out great artist. But every once in a while, when he really nails a piece, he's simply on a different level than everyone else. With this piece, he's on a completely different planet! WOW!!!!!
