Description

Amazing page of published original art by the incomparable Mike Mignola. It was featured as page 13 of Issue 1 of the brilliant Hellboy Batman Starman crossover published by Dark Horse and DC Comics in 1999. The highly acclaimed two book series was written by James Robinson and drawn by Mike Mignola. It is slated to be included in the upcoming Starman Omnibus collection from DC.

The comic-book panels, are drawn within a 8 3/4" x 14" frame on a slightly larger 11" x 17" piece of DC Comics Offset Bristol paper with the DC Comics logo. The back of the piece is stamped with DC's copyright and the date 1999 is written in red ink. The artwork itself has everything any Migola/Batman fan could ask for, including explosions, skeletons, nazis, the Bat Signal and three frames of Batman! You've got to love Mike's interesting, dark take on The Batman.

I was fortunate to purchase this page directly from Mr. Mignola himself, at the 1999 San Diego Comic-Con. He was also gracious enough to sign the piece for me at the bottom of left of the page. If that wasn't enough, he even drew a small Hellboy sketch at the bottom right of the page. Such a nice guy!
