Description

Definitely not the most dramatic pages in the book by far but it has a understated beauty all its own as the story progresses panel by panel till it reaches its denouement with the last panel exploding in color.

McKean brilliantly illustrated Amadeus Arkham's descent (or, on this page at least, ascent) into madness. The last panel with its Wizard-of-Oz-like splash of color showed the "good" doctor was "no longer in Kansas anymore." Honestly, I enjoyed the "historical" aspects of the story more than much of the Batman parts.

Great page, one of my favorite parts of the story is the Arkham family history.
