Evans/Crandall "In Freedom's Cause" (CI)
Four pages from " In Freedom's Cause ", Classics Illustrated No. 168 ( Gilberton, 1962 ). George Evans has also been credited for the artwork, but the inking here is unmistakenly Reed Crandall's. After a losing battle with alcoholism, Reed Crandall suffered several strokes and died in a nursing home of a heart attack in 1982, only 65 years old.
