King, Frank
Simply put, Frank King (1883-1969) was one of the greatest cartoonists to ever put pen to paper. Gasoline Alley remains one of the best comic strips ever created, with a cast of characters that the public felt invested in. King was among the first cartoonists to allow his characters to "grow" in a somewhat realistic fashion, so we followed Skeezix from doorstep to WWII to current times. In terms of art, King was a master at drawing the figure, and his work from the 20s through the 40s was just wonderful. King constantly experimented with the medium, trying different techniques in both art and narrative. A true master.
