Creig Flessel (1912-2008) was truly an incredible artist, and an even better human being. While Creig's acclaim to comic book fans was his work done during the Golden Age, he was the first to admit that his later work was far superior to the material he drew back in the 30s. I was introduced to the Flessels by Charlie "The Patron Saint of Popeye" Roberts back in the early 90s, when we spent a wonderful afternoon interviewing Creig. I was lucky enough to get some wonderful commission drawings and sketches from Creig over the years.
Even though he was 96 years old, and lived a long and full life, Creig's passing is very sad to his fans everywhere. I hope this gallery of his work can serve as a memorial of sorts in his honor. Rest easy Creig.
