As many of my friends know, I am a huge fan of Walt Kelly's work and I have almost stopped collecting other comic related artwork to focus on my Walt Kelly collection. My son and I recently took a trip to California to see the beautiful coastline, giant redwoods, and also to visit a friend who happens to be Walt Kelly's stepson and who has offered some wonderful Walt Kelly artwork for sale. In assembling a want list of items I hoped to obtain, the story "The Kluck Klams" which appeared in "The Pogo Poop Book" was literally at the top of my list. This story features some of my all-time favorite Walt Kelly artwork and also contains a social message that was very daring for its time (published in 1966) but is still relevant today. It's also one of my son's favorite Pogo examples, so it will remain in our families collection for many years to come! Unfortunately, we are missing page 5 of the story; thankfully it is not a key page and the story still reads well without it. Of course, I would love to complete the story!
