French popular illustrator (1903-1979) who drew almost everything from comics to books covers, movie posters and advertisement (he was the one who design the ESSO oval). He lived in the USA in the late 1920's He even drew Tarzan stories in France during the late 1930's and early 1940's. He was especially known for his long runs from the SF collection ANTICIPATION from Editions FLEUVE NOIR. The first run known as the Black period from 1951 to 1965 then a second period from 1973 to 1977. He was fired in a very bad way by Editions Fleuve Noir because he was not enough modern for them...
