I love those FF done by John and Joe at this time. The face expressions were great and again, what a mastery in storytelling.
The flow between the panels is just incredible.
Congratulations Paul !
Yes, Dan was pretty good on Big John. These Astonishing Tales books were not the easiest to find at that time in France. As another bunch of titles, it was in Brussels in the early 70's that I could get them, discovering who was doing what by opening each book with delight. At that time, no plastic bags with tape in this beautiful store ! Ka-Zar was a great character for John, he surely enjoyed drawing him. Not a super-hero, some kind of savage guy moving in a way which fit perfectly for a great story teller. Loved those books with the Savage Tales stories too.
Congrats Paul !
John could draw anything, from Romance to Horror, from Super-heroes to fierce Barbarians. I truly enjoyed all his Man-Thing books as the few Frankenstein back in the days.
Beautiful page from this too short Giant-Size books run.
Congratulation for another jewel in your collection, Paul !
The first Subby issue was good, but this one was awesome. Incredible energy bursts from this specific page. In the Big John muscular Marvel era (pre Avengers#74 book) this Sub-Mariner run was beautiful. Frank Giacoia followed meticulously the pencils lines, as Dan Adkins later.
What a fantastic page, congratulations again Paul !
Such a powerful page brought by John and Joe. For a few issues, Johnny's hair was on fire, just as we were reading those pulse pounding books. Great artwork and storytelling at their best, beauttiful memories to buy these books each month and share them with other fans all over the world.
Congrats Paul !
Jealousy always let some ugly things on anyone's face, but luckily Albert, you cannot see me behind my computer.
Anyway, I bow to you for possessing this truly piece of history for all the old Marvel fans crawling on the web.
Congratulations !
Another stunning page from this unforgettable double sized issue with Doctor Doom. Big john and Joe perfectly matched to deliver those FF pages at the time. Sue was never looking better than under the magical tools of these two giants. Congratulations for this other gem in your awesome collection Paul !
Wow, I was dreaming to get this one when I first saw it years ago. Congratulations for this incredible piece. Conan is really good looking but Belit is truly jaw dropping !
Another storytelling master class by Big John, and of course, a gorgeous Sue. Joe was really great with John on Thor or the FF. I miss the time I could buy these books from the rack.
Congratulations Paul !
Congrats Joshua. Probably one of, if not, the best Conan the Barbarian cover by Big John.
Celui-là est à tomber par terre !
Magnifique, j'adore Gillon et là il est au top.
Beautifuil piece and very respectful inks by Klaus, congratulations !

I always loved this page but unfortunately always missed it ! Anyway great drawing by John, congratulations !
Yes, superb page by both artists. Big John surely pushed his pencils on this one as you can really see his artwork. Rudy was faithful to them but added his inimitable talent to deliver this beauty. Each panel are great. From the top one with this gorgeous face, to the bottom one. Typical John's poses. The three awesome Conan panels just add the mood of this very cinematic sequence showing the fantastic knowledge of storytelling by these greats. Congratulations Jeffrey !
Exactly, Paul Smith did an incredible run on this title. My Favorite New X-Men artist before John Byrne and Dave Cockrum too. This cover bring a lot of memories and yes, it's for me the best of the serie. Great story, great book and awesome cover. Congratulations David, a real Masterpiece.
You are right Phaedra is just a gorgeous character and the artwork and storytelling by Terry and Rachel are stellar. Not to mention the great and fun story by Matt Fraction. Great page !
Awesome opening page of this incredible book. Hard to believe this was done in a hurry to finish the story, but with two titanic talents like John and Tom you should not have been surprised. One of the first book I got on a regular basis in Paris along with FF#120. I was dazzled to see they were both drawn by my all time favorite artist Big John Buscema. This issue remains as one of the best because of the guys but also because of this magic instant engraved in my memory. I still remember clearly when I picked up the book and opened it to see this first page. Congratulations for this stunning piece of history !
Unbelievably awesome artwork. Inks by Rudy here are great and John is firing too. Congratulations !
True magnificient atrwork by two of the greatest men in the business.
Both Thor issues by Neal and Joe were beautiful and indeed this Mephisto rendition was among the best with Silver Surfer #3.
Congratulations for this gem, it surely deserves such a devoted house to stellar artwork.
Great composition and drawing, I love it !
A Masterpiece of history ! One of, if not, the best Big John Avengers cover and large art if I am not mistaken.
Congratulations this is a true grail piece of art !
Always loved the Rorschach character, Dave Gibbons and Comic Showcase the coolest bookshop in Great Britain ever (Not to mention Paul his then manager).
Shalla-Bal and this page are absolute beauties ! Congratulations Bill.
I had this beautiful piece for years, a real gem with full pencils by John.
Superb Inks are by Klaus Janson. Congratulations !
All these Marvel artists Self Portraits with biography on the back were a dream for us. Unfortunately not easily avalable from this side of the Ocean too, even with a cool mother. I could get this portfolio many years after but even better are the originals. All are exceptional. Kirby, Marie Severin, Colan, Romita, Steranko, John Buscema and at last but not least this Herb Trimpe one which shows how he was a great artist too. Congratulations Albert it's a true masterpiece...
Great large art page by Gene inked by Frank. Always a lot of memory to see again those beautiful pages from the Daredevil books. The Masked Marauder and the Gladiator were top villains for DD. Congratulations for this piece of history drawn by two titanic talents of the time !
Great page Mike, I especially love those JB hands as usual, but also the great cinematographic storytelling.
What a brilliant run. Doctor Strange introduced us to the magical team of Gene Colan and Tom Palmer. Before Daredevil and Tomb of Dracula it gave us one of the best combination or artists. None better than Tom could render and embellish Gene's pencils and add this smoothness without altering anything. They truly fit to each other. Love these guys and love this page too. Congratulations for this beauty !
Great combination between two awesome artists. Tom delivered a lot of books by himself and here, with John, he did a great job by enhancing those probably loose pencils which traced the page but needed to be filled with something more. Sutton was always respectful with the original penciller as he already showed with Kane but was able to add this specific atmosphere of his own. He was great on these horror books. Like we can see in his Man Thing book in Giant Size #5 and here with John in this especially beautiful page. Congratulations Paul, another winner in you superb collection...
Jim was not well known for his pencils talent. This page is tremendous. A real treasure for the eyes by one of the pillars of the house of idea who proved here he was among the best. Spectacular !
A beautiful page from a magical team. I wish Bill should have inked more of these Thor books. Jack gave us a great artwork and the brush of Everett was magical. What a superb page, congratulations Paul !
Woah Paul, what a great story. I was there too at this Birmingham Comicon in 1979 with a friend. We met Frank Brunner, Steve Leialoha and Jim Steranko too. We probably crossed our path in these alleys. What a great memory !
Anyway this Marvel Premiere page is a true gem. I absolutely loved these books inked by Neal and the gang. Congratulations !
Such a Marvelous cover ! Great memories when I bought the comic book with this beautiful artwork by Big John. Maybe a reprint but what a superb book, I still have it. Congratulations !
Great run by JB on Frankie, Verpoorten inks are perfect for him and the character. I loved these issues. Congratulations for this page and great memories of Comic Showcase back in the early 80's too !
Superb cover my a true master of the mystical pencil art. Congratulation !
Beautiful page from this great cross-over with the X-Men. I love the fourth panel with Angel's face.
What a beautiful page by John and Terry at the peak of their talent, tragic and iconic story. You have a wonderful X-Men gallery, congratulations !
Superb page from the fantastic but too short run of Neal by the X-Men. Such memories when buying those books in the early seventies. Congratulations for this true gem !
