The Phantom - Wilson McCoy (USA Comic Strip Artist)
Wilson McCoy (April 6th, 1902 – July 20th, 1961) was the second artist on The Phantom comic strip. He started out as Ray Moore's assistant, but when Moore retired from the strip after a war injury, McCoy gradually took over the entire strip and was solely responsible for the artwork by 1949. In my mind, McCoy was an absolute master. I grew up reading his stories and he is my #1 favourite artist of The Phantom. My favourite story is the daily story, 'The Two Signs' from 1958.
