Thanks a lot for your comment back in 2024 Peter!
I love it too. It's mesmerising!
Yes it sure is. It's what drew me to owning this one!
Agreed! Very simple - yes powerful!
Awesome cover! Tommy Hughes was a master! Great era of action sequences on the covers in these years!
Your work on the 3x Phantom 2040 covers was exceptional!
I'm more a 'Falkist' Phantom collector myself but these 2040 covers really stood out and brought a whole new wave of collectors to The Phantom.
Woweeeee
Incredible piece of artwork. It's intense and the level of details extraordinary!
Interesting you should say. It's been noted Lignante highly admired Alex Raymond's drawing style:
"Lignante learned to draw by copying the “Flash Gordon” and “Prince Valiant” newspaper comics. From early on, he knew he wanted to be a cartoonist, though his parents pressed him to choose a more stable adult profession"
Yeah it's got some charm to it that's for sure!
Great significant item. If Im not mistaken, this was the cover from the Lee Falk dedicated issue of the Friends of the Phantom newsletter.
What a wonderful Rolf Gohs example!
The black background cover really stands out for me, and the floating skull in the back outstanding.
Well done on acquiring this beauty!
Thanks a lot for your comment Marcus!
I agree and also enjoy the bondage girl type covers!
Prior to your comment, I didn't have the published cover picture attached. And honestly, the published cover again captures such a powerful image in my opinion. Wonderful!
Gorgeous cover.
Did you know there is 2x versions to this cover art, this one and 1x painted version also?
I was a bit puzzled recently as I purchased the painted cover, to which I enquired with Dean Ormston and he explianed that he originally drew the cover art in B&W and then was requested by Wolf Comics to prioduce a painted copy.
Perhaps one day we can out them side by side for a comparison.
That's right!
thanks a lot for your comment!
Thanks a lot Marcus! You're right!
When I have had visitors this is a common piece which has had artists and photographers stop to study it further.

Yeah this piece stands out as one of my favourites in the whole collection! So powerful!
Thnaks a lot for your comment again and agreed!
This TESSA original is actually a bit of a copycat piece, as the original strip art by Sy Barry is exactly the same. I do own the sy barry original also so will upload it in the next few days and might make it an additional photo here for comparison!
Thanks a lot!
Yeah are resemble that 1st superhero / crimefighter type very well!

Agreed on this! Such a dark, powerful piece. This artist TESSA was so good at capturingthe darker poses.
I particularly like the ali baba face on the front cover on this one. Such great detail!

Thank you.
I saw this originally in a friends collection and for years followed up in the hopes he would one day sell it. Finally that time come and I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger on owning it. It's one of the best examples of Rolf Gohs I have ever seen (in my opinion)
Very nice collection of the three pages you have here Dan.
In answer to your question on the writer, I checked and seems to be written by an author named Gary Poole. Some more details here.
