Tom Grindberg - DC Prelims - 1990s

This gallery includes layouts and preliminary artwork by Tom Grindberg for DC comics produced in the 1990s. Most of these feature Superman, Supergirl or Superboy. They are pencil, or pencil and ink / marker pen on paper and measure approx 8.75 x 11 inches. Each single sheet of paper features the art for 4 - or sometimes 2 - mini pages. It is surprising (to me at least) the extent to which the art on the prelim often matches that of the final version. Possibly they were enlarged and used with a lightbox as the basis for the final art - but this is just speculation!
