Born in 1954 in Teruel (Spain), Luis Royo began exhibiting his paintings in 1972 and publishing his comic work in magazines such as “Rambla”, “Víbora”, and “Heavy Metal” in 1980. Transitioning to illustration in 1983, he achieved international success, creating covers for prestigious publishers like “Tor Book”, “Berkley Books”, “Avon”, “Warner Books”, and “Batman Books”. By 1990, Royo had established himself as a prominent figure in the international illustration market, publishing over twenty personal books, including “Prohibited”, “Subversive Beauty”, “Secrets”, and “Fantastic Art”. Throughout his career, Royo has exhibited his work in galleries and art fairs across France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Russia, and the United States, receiving awards such as the Silver Award Spectrum and The Inkpot Award Comic Art in the United States, and the El Peregrino Fantasy Award in Russia.
