JRJR is actually my X-Men artist. I grew up in San Francisco from 1980 to 1983. When I eventually returned to England in 1984 I had around 90 comics in my wardrobe. My parents bought them for me when we used to fly to give me something to do. This is how random it was. I had one Daredevil comic (issue 163). I also had 4 X-Men comics. Issue 93, 96, 101 and 207. While I loved the earlier issues I was blown away by the art in 207 and what seemed to me like growth in the characters… I just loved it. I’ve had the pleasure of owning 5 JRJR X-Men covers. 178,180,184,185,191. I had grand designs of trying to buy as many as I could. My dream was issue 183 as this (along with the Alan Davis issue 213) are my all time favourite comics. I never got the chance to get the cover and I also had to sell 4 of my 5 covers. I also tried to complete the interiors of issue 183 and maybe it all the way to 10 pages of the 22. Again life got in the way and I only have two left (as seen in this gallery).
