Teddy Kristiansen is a Danish comic book artist and illustrator, known for his unique and atmospheric style. He has worked in both the Danish and international comic book industries, including for major publishers like DC Comics in the USA. Kristiansen began his career in the Danish comic book world in the 1980s, collaborating with various Danish writers on a number of comic book projects. On the occasion of Superman's 80th anniversary, he drew the only Superman album not published by DC - "Superman and the Peace Bomb," which he illustrated based on a script by Niels Søndergard. He achieved his international breakthrough in the 1990s, when he, in collaboration with Peter Snejberg, relaunched Tarzan and has since worked on several acclaimed projects, especially within the American comic book industry. His works are known for their expressionistic and often dark style, creating visual depth and emotional tone in his stories. Kristiansen has worked with writers such as Neil Gaiman, Steven T. Seagle, and many others. His works span multiple genres, from superhero stories to more personal, psychologically driven narratives. One of his most prominent works is "It's a Bird" (2004), which he created in collaboration with Seagle. The comic is a semi-autobiographical story about Huntington's disease, which received great acclaim for its in-depth exploration of the Superman myth and its personal significance to the author. The following year, he received the prestigious Eisner Award for the comic in the category of Best Painter.
