Modesty Blaise

I love, love, LOVE Modesty Blaise. I believe she is the greatest comics heroine ever, and maybe gender shouldn't enter into the discussion. She was created by Peter O'Donnell and Jim Holdaway to provide an alternative to James Bond, and it worked! All other Bond derivatives were eventually presented as parodies, but not Modesty. Her backstory, skills, and loyalties far surpassed James' and she even came across as more human. I have examples of Holdaway's art from most of the storylines he did and pieces by all her published artists, yes, including Romero. Not my favorite but the man drew twice as many Modesty Blaise strips as any other artist and so generations of fans saw his Modesty as the model. Nevertheless, I follow O'Donnell's declaration of "the Incomparable" Jim Holdaway.
