Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, was the first Marvel superheroine of whom I took particular note. This was probably because (a) the development of her relationship with the Vision always intrigued me, and (b) her costume was so darned cool. Though she was preceded by Sue Storm and Jean Grey (both rather dull characters in their early incarnations), I still think of Wanda as the elder stateswoman of the Marvel pantheon -- the House of Ideas' counterpart to Wonder Woman.
