One of those artists who brought professionalism, humour, good nature and unbounded talent in the right amounts to make him universally loved both for his work, and as a person. His runs on Robin, Spider-Man, the Flash and other titles, including his own creation Tellos, all showcased an artist on top form and with no end in sight. So his utterly unexpected death at a ridiculously young age of 44 in August 2007 came as a blow. Fans and professionals alike were stunned and were profuse in their praise and genuine sense of loss. Sadly I never got to meet him. I don't think he ever came to the UK, or if he did it was a convention I didn't get to. A shame, it would have been nice to shake the hand of the man who created the never-bettered first design for Bart "Impulse" Allen.
