Europeans AZPIRI, RODGUEN, MOEBIUS, et al
My first exposure to European comics was reading my brother's Asterix albums by Goscinny and Uderzo in the 1970's. It was humorous adventure like the Carl Barks stories I love. When I went to college in Berkeley in 1977, Comics & Comix and Best of Two Worlds were just down the street. I also frequented the great Moe's used book store which was open until Midnight. I found Lucky Luke by Goscinny and Morris and Lt. Blueberry by Charlier and Giraud (aka Moebius).
My brother's Stuart Ng Books imports many Franco-Belgian bande dessinee and I have been lucky to meet some of the artists who come over from Europe to do signings at his SDCC booth. Big Wow ComicFest has brought many artists over the Atlantic to San Jose, CA for their annual con.
