Severin, Al

The things you learn in this hobby... I've been collecting original comic art for nearly 30 years. I've seen lots and lots of stuff, and consider myself a pretty good lay historian of the field.

Then I get introduced to the work of an artist that I was totally unfamiliar with. It's like rediscovering the hobby all over again, from my very first art purchases. Thank you, Jeff Singh.

When I saw Jeff's first commissions by Al Severin, my socks were blown off. Still are. Those were followed by incredible sketches; Kley-like dances across the page. So, collector that I am, I was both hooked and interested. And Jeff, collector that he is, was very generous in helping me make introductions to an artist who is not hooked up to the computer super highway. Thanks again Jeff.

The short form of Al's biography is that he was born into a family of artists that runs generations deep. If you like what you see here, and want to find out more about Al, Lambiek has a good biography. There's a French site devoted to Al's work, as well as a translated version of Wikipedia page.
