I loved the 90's Swimsuit Pin up Specials from Marvel & Image that had amazing pin ups of my favorite characters done by my favorite artists! I really love the period before the advent of digital backgrounds and such, when the art was more than just the figure in a swimsuit on an empty art board.
I also tend to like the pinups from certain artists, so the first couple Marvel specials that showcased Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, and Whilce Portacio really started it for me. Then I really fell in love with the Image Comics ones, right at the beginning when it was all new and exciting. Specifically, I loved the Homage Studios issue, the 5 Wildstorm ones (Wildstorm Swimsuit #1, #2, '97, plus Gamorra and Gen 13 Bikini Special), the Ballistic Studios (Top Cow), The Aspen/Fathom ones (that are still going strong even now, go Aspen!), and even some of the many Extreme ones that all came out under the Image banner. (Avengelyne, Glory & Friends, etc) This is my gallery of the beauties that I've managed to acquire so far:)
Although I will happily take any and all from these books if the price is right, I really like the Marvel, Homage & Wildstorm Swimsuit pieces best. If you see any, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know. Even if it isn't currently for sale, maybe it will be someday and I would love to know where it's at! Thanks for looking!
