I love Tolkien's books! I first read THE HOBBIT and the trilogy in my early teens, and in the years since then I've re-read them many times. Each time, whatever stage of life I was in, I found SOMETHING in the books speaking to whatever I may have been personally experiencing. With this kind of investment in these works, I was apprehensive about the proposed film adaptations, but Jackson did well to have Alan Lee and John Howe design the films' look for him, and, honestly, the opening scenes in the Shire in FOTR had me in tears, they were just so right.
