Joe Maneely was a star whose life was cut terribly short by a tragic accident. One can only wonder what the comics universe (in particular, the ensuing superhero universe) might have looked like had he lived on. He would have clearly been of the stature of Jack Kirby, Wally Wood, Steve Ditko and all the other legends that graced the comic book landscape. The present cover furnishes us with more than a glimpse of his consummate skill.
