Q&A with Yevgeny Sokolov

Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why?

Hard to choose but I have to say it is Dredd I did last year (2023). It came out so great and the facial features I was going for came out just like I picture Stallone in that role. Everything came together just right even without a prelim.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am an Artist who started doing comic art and inking in 2021. I previously did a lot of fine art. I work as an Art teacher in a high school and do art on my free time. I love comics and was fascinated with fantasy and comics since I can remember growing up in USSR. Now I get to do what I love as an American. I love drawing, inking and painting, Watercolor and acrylics mainly. I am married and live with my wife Jennifer in a small town in state of Missouri.

How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I finally started collecting art. It happened at 2026 OAX show. I was doing a lot of networking and chatting with artists but couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy a few pieces. One from Uko Smith and small commission sketch from Bart Sears. I have a feeling I will be buying interior pages soon.

How do you display/store your collection at home?

As of now all the art I have purchased is in a portfolio.
