Q&A with Bill Woo

Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why?

All the pieces in my gallery are my favorites otherwise they wouldn’t be there, I would sell them haha. But I do have a sweet spot for my Cosmic Powers #1 cover and all the pgs I own from that book. The storyline is about Thanos acquiring more knowledge since knowledge is power and how he goes about it.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I used to own a comic book store, Comicmania in Delaware but now I’m retired. Left the store to my daughter Amanda who now runs the store. I still collect comics and OA plus I attend Comic Cons all over the country. My hobbies also include collecting comic statues. My other passion is cars, love fast cars!

How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?

I’ve been collecting OA since early 1990’s, bought the Entire X-men #1 and X-Force #1 at Sotheby’s in 1991. Collected comics before that and decided to collect OA simply because art is one of a kind and back then, it wasn’t a huge collectible market for it hence it was fairly inexpensive compared to today’s prices.

How do you display/store your collection at home?

I displayed them on my walls thru out my office and house but they are photo copies of the original. The originals are safely tug in a safety deposit box.

What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?

I’ve owned the most iconic pieces of OA out there and sold them so now I do not have a grail that I must get. I do love Aphrodite IX by Finch and like to get as many great pages and covers from those comics. I also love the storyline from Cosmic Powers #1 Thanos and would love to buy any pgs from that book.
