So delighted to get this amazing page showing Alan Davis at his storytelling best! Beautiful, flawless inks by Mark Farmer - these two are a Dream Team to rival Byrne & Austin or Miller & Jansen! The sheer detail and design in the first panel alone are miraculous - so much going on, yet the figures fit their spaces perfectly and lead the eye where the scene needs it to go. This may actually be my favourite OA by Davis - it's bursting with energy that rivals Kirby, and dynamic figure work that could sit comfortably with Gil Kane at his strongest. And...so many Skrulls! Davis' Skrulls are up there with Adams and Byrne. Expressive, sinister and nasty - and counterpointed by the clear innocence of the youngling. All through a sheer mastery of facial expression. Just a remarkable page from two masters at their height!
