Comic Art News: Kubert & Romita Hurricane Relief Auction Artwork!

As reported on November 6th, 2005 the Joe Kubert and John Romita, Sr. Hurricane Relief Auctions on Ebay ended raising over $4200.00 total. Sgt. Rock and Spider-man were the characters requested by the winners. After the auction ended the two underbidders called Metropolis asking if they could match the high bid to commission Joe and John to draw Hawkman and Spider-man respectively. Both were contacted and graciously agreed bringing the total to almost $8,500.00 raised for the victims of the recent hurricanes. Both artists were very happy with the results and glad to be part of such a worthy cause.

All monies raised will go to the modestneeds.org charity. �The Modest Needs Foundation helps people in very unique ways. Money will go directly to help those whose homes and property was damaged or lost and can�t pay their insurance deductibles and to people who have incurred additional expenses due to housing family members/friends displaced by the hurricanes� explained Dr. Keith Taylor President/Executive Director of the Modest Needs Foundation. It is also important to note that most of the money raised will go directly to people in need as Modest Need�s overhead and administrative expenses are very low. �I would like to personally thank all of the people who bid on the auctions and of course Mr Kubert and Mr. Romita for donating their talents to this worthy cause� Metropolis COO Vincent Zurzolo said. �Comics have been very good to me over the last eighteen years, being able to do something good for others through the hobby I love has been extremely rewarding for me� he added.
