Hi Jeff, artist is George Opperman. Very talented in-house atari artist. I think he may have been the art director as well. You could read more about him in the art of atari book. ![]() Thanks for the info Dan, I probably should have known that since I have the other Atari pins as well, fantastic art on all of them! |

Wow! This piece and the other Batman commissions in your gallery show how much Ernie must have really enjoyed drawing for fans. I can practically hear the bat-wings fluttering! You're lucky to have this great collection of drawings. ![]() Thanks for the comment Arthur! You also have some great stuff from Ernie. I feel fortunate and blessed I got to know him a bit, and amassed a nice collection of artwork from him. I definitely need to post more for the world to see! |

I've been looking thru all my Chan art commissions he made for me over the years, mostly Batman. I stumbled upon this one, likely one of the last he ever made. As my friends call me "Batman"... I picture it as Ernie flying up to heaven and waiving goodbye to me...for now. Thanks for sharing an AWESOME piece! |

Jim Aparo Classic Batman commission Owner: Jeff Scott Comment posted on 4/25/2007 Hi Matthew, I believe you're mistaken. If you saw this on Ebay a few months ago then THAT piece was a fake perhaps, since I've had this piece over a year and bought it from a well respected dealer. The original design was from the Batman style guide, which was done by Garcia Lopez...that part I'd agree isn't Aparo. Holding the piece in my hands I'd say I'm pretty certian it's Aparo, as well as the signature, which matches many others I have from him. I will investigate further, but pretty sure this piece is legit...thanks for the note, email me if you want to discuss more. Jeff |
