... I've been thinking a bit about this painting, if you look closely you can really see the sadness and tragedy that visited Jeffrey's life reflected in the painting. It doubles as an Impressionist landscape, and also at a deeper allegorical , darker and psychological depth and meaning. Jones was really a unique one off type of artist, all the greats are.
Gorgeous, very nice! Reminds me of a Peter Paul Rubens composition, although at much smaller scale, Rubens oils can get to 40 feet tall.
Love this! Reminds me of the 1933 King Kong, a landmark film. I seem to recall that film was one of Frazetta's favorites too.

These are an excellent way to get nice vintage prime period Wrightson and not break the bank. It's weird the price disparity between the finished ink pages and these fairly tight pencils prelims.
