I drooled over a set of these during my visit to the Museum back in 2005.  Frank was only several yards away at his studio working on the Cat Girl painting.  We spent four hours there, one of the greatest moments of my life.  Amazing to think how many of those originals have hit the market.  Sad really.

Yes, visiting the museum is an awesome experience.  You can lose track of time in there!  Years back when Verotik comics came out, these heads were for sale via Glenn Danzig in an ad in those comics.  I'm really happy I managed to scrape some money together to get these.

Great piece of art and music history. I always loved KMD, when Doom used to rap under the name Zev Love X with his brother Subroc who also tragically passed.

Congrats!  Almost went after this one myself.  Everything about this screams "Alcala" - look at all that detail!!  No offense to JB, but Alcala certainly didn's need JB's pencils to do kickass work on SSOC.  In fcat, I think AA's work on Voltar is just as good as, if not better than, his insane SSOC work.

Thank you Steve! Yes I agree - a piece done solely by Alcala is instantaneously distinguishable with his unique and beautiful style. It fits the the fictional world of Conan to perfection.

I would like to know how Conan can get his sternocleidomastoids, trapezius (traps), latissimus dorsi (lats), sacrospinalis, and his iliopsoas all working at peak efficiency to look this good.  I'm asking for my workout buddy Ruben.

It is said that Conan attained peak physical shape from pushing the Wheel of Pain, but legend has it that he also did a lot of 12 ounce curls of meade, and trained with Franco Columbu.

Frazetta did one other sculpture that I know of: The Thongar Against the Gods pose. Not as good. He didn't know why they chose that image either.

Yes I've read that since posting these and never updated it. Just did, thanks!

When you frame her, add a little button in the bottom of the frame that when pressed, plays the Rolling stones, Painted black.

Yes, lol, reminiscent of the show about the Vietnam war, "Tour of Duty" that played that song during the title credits, or "Full Metal Jacket".

This is a wonderful prelim.  It is beautiful in its simplicity.  I'll be posting a similar FAA prelim soon - not tons of detail, a lot of "white" space, but beautiful.

Agreed! I was lucky to snag this one.
