Although, for whatever reason, I never fully got into Nexus, the art was exceptional. Rude always struck me as a modern-day Russ Manning.

Tom, I envy you for this page. It gives me the creeps in the most beautiful way possible. The way Moore, Bissette and Totleben incorporated environmental commentary with existential horror here was, at the time, mind-blowing and without compare. Cheers!

Origami Man is really just a square. (Aparo's ability to draw and give credence to even the most bizarre concepts inside the Batman/DC superhero oeuvre is beyond compare.)

I love this page. There is lots of super speed action with a classic villain using his powers throughout the page, but that middle tier with the classic Earth 1/Earth 2 imagery followed by a great closeup of the Flash make this a superior page from Infantino's second run.

There was a clothing store not too far from my hometown (where my mom would take me to buy things like suits when I was a kid) that had an officially marked fallout shelter in its basement. Later, in my junior high and high school days, I often had dreams about incoming nuclear annihilation where I and my family were desperately trying to make it to that shelter. All of this I write just to say that this is a very effective mushroom cloud comic book cover. Cheers!

On a much smaller scale than this, I'm sure, I made a lot of hard choices (16, in fact) in 2018 to bring in a page that had been on my naively written want list of my most wanted comic art pages. Admittedly, the feeling of loss of some pages, which included many of my first purchases after I got into the hobby in the late 90s, lingered. However, it never canceled the high of attaining that one top-notch page that I had always wanted but never thought I'd get. Cheers to the sacrifices made to get this most iconic Weapon X splash.

Buckler & Giordano, thanks to Supergirl (and Mary Marvel) being featured in their Superman vs Shazam Treasury, are my favorite Supergirl artists. Further, they draw her in such a dynamic pose here that it is darn near perfection. Cheers

I had the same restrictions. Mom was particularly worried about me reading mystery comics. She wouldn't even let me buy the Amazing Spider-Man #101 because Morbius the Living Vampire was on the cover. But I could plunk my quarter down for Russ Heath's Sgt. Rock. I don't think I bought this issue, though. If Mom had seen this page, she would've freaked.

The stillness of the tripod standing in its fiery surroundings, the emptiness of the forest and the distance of our/theviewer's perspective is oddly affecting.

It's a wonderful illustration. This era's Conan is so conceptually different from mine it is fascinating. Also, the dragon is appropriately beastly with that three-nostril trunk/nose. All in all, very cool.
