I wasn't ready for a 5 page sequence! Very cool that these are the only ones that Mignola drew from the story, and it's made even better that they all stayed together. Fantastic.

The auction info stated that the pages came from 'the Mignola Collection' and that probably explains why the pages stayed together.

That's an impressive series of Sale double page spreads you're publishing here. Mindblowing (and waiting for The Hulk one now).

Beautiful page. Love the last panel and the note at the bottom. Awesome to see work that an artist was excited about and enjoyed. FYI this story looks like it was from Popular Romance #23 with Mike Peppe as the inker. It's reprinted in Setting the Standard and Genius Isolated. Congrats, Jan!

Thank you for the kind words and extra information. I have added and corrected accordingly in the description.

A gorgeous, clean, “open” page!  I really love how the act of reading the page takes your eye physically through the route of the action here; the horizontal tier of panels with Jessica trapped, then the explosion of action that starts on tier 2, arcs outward with the broken glass, figure, and shield, and then “lands” on the bottom right corner of the page, back with Jessica.  Great layout and execution!  Awesome page - congrats!

I couldn't agree more and couldn't put it in words as eloquently as you did. Thanks!

Aside from greatly admiring Risso's work, this page was a huge surprise to me, (not having seen the story),and brought a big smile to my face, as my late father (Dick Smith) created that face on Brando, that Eduardo captured so well. It's nice to think that his work lives on, not only for film buffs, but even, a little bit, in Comic Art.

Thanks for posting this!

What a great comment. Just googled your father and he was an artist in his own right! What a great number of unforgettable movies he worked on, creating some of the great film 'faces' we know. And even in the obituaries here in Belgium, they called him "the Godfather of make-up. Glad that this page brought a big smile on your face.

Great choice! I had this page reserved but ended up making my option for other pages, already sorry I didn't pull the trigger for this one, congrats!

Thanks for not pursuing this one :-). Anyhow, so many great pages from Eduardo Risso to choose from. You just can't be wrong.
