This looks to be a preliminary piece for a card which was given with the X-Men VHS that Pizza Hut offered in the 90's

Really cool piece, Lou! You know what's interesting though? If you told me this was a Bagley piece, I wouldn't doubt it for a second. Neal didn't "Adamsfy" it, but with the Bagley loook being the definitive one in 1994, I have to wonder if that had at least something to do with it. Either way, not a character I'd ever have imagined we'd ever see done by Neal, so it's a really neat rarity!

So I picked this piece up from my brother Tommy and he used to have it posted on here. When he did, this was his desctiption of it:

"Spider-man the animated series was a fantastic cartoon but developed primarily to sell toys. This backer card art for Carnage was from his first figure appearance made by Toy Biz in 1994 as part of the Series 1 wave of figures. Carnage was relatively new to the comics scene having been created just a couple years prior in 1992 by Mark Bagley in Amazing Spider-man #361. Oddly enough his cartoon appearance wasn't until season 3 (1996) of Spider-man TAS which was 2 years after the figure was created. Could have explained why there was no real reference for cartoon Carnage other than the comics themselves. Neal Adams based most of Carnage's figure card looks on Mark Bagley's first full page drawing of Carnage that appeared in ASM #361"
