I really, really, really loved the 1960s Batman. I also spent a lot of time drooling over the game box and puzzle box art in the Ben Franklin's store when I was a kid. Thanks! I've had this piece a long time. I believe it was rescued from a garbage can because it was rejected. |

TWISTED was one of a number of proposed titles Kurt created covers for that never saw print. Other titles included DARK TALES and BEYOND SPACE. I think this one probably dates from around 1966. The DARK TALES unpublished cover features in Roy Thomas's magazine, ALTER EGO, Vol. 3, No. 35 (April 2004). I've always been of the belief that ACG might have been the would-be publisher for which they were intended, but I don't know for sure. Scotty Moore is the guy to ask! Thanks Terry. I guess I should have asked you first! ACG ended in 1967. That could be why they didn't get picked up. I always loved Schaffenbergers art. |
