Thanks, Mark. I'd like to know what Gil used as well. It sure looks like marker to me but there's no noticeable fade or bleed like in much of his later work in that medium. Maybe they just made 'em with better ink back then? I did search CAF for other Star Hawks examples before posting this and they're all listed as "Pen and Ink" so that's what I went with too.

Ray, this is just beautiful! Congratulations! I've always had a slight personal preference for Raymond's illustration art over his strip art and this is one of the best examples I've ever seen. I just love the incredible feeling of movement and speed that was conveyed through the lush rendering and deceptively simple, yet innovative, composition. I personally wish we could see the reaper's "face" but that's just me. Absolutely outstanding!
