I think that's the Death's Head moth from the Silence of the Lambs...
Not only is he amazingly talented but extremely generous. When I had asked him to do the cover he originally was going to do a traditional pen and ink/digital color job, but then he called and said "I'm feeling that this should be painted... Do you mind?" No, don't mind at all! Plus he sent along the amazing step-by-step... Too cool for words!!!
